As a Los Angeles native, Cody Kennedy has been involved in the entertainment industry for most of her life. Early on, she booked both national and international commercials for major companies like McDonalds and Sears. This quickly led to numerous music video roles for top recording artists such as Miley Cyrus, Justin Timberlake, and Leona Lewis. Both Brett Ratner and David Fincher handpicked Cody at auditions to cast her in principle roles for their videos. She also became a very popular model as the face of JoyRich “Super Girl” T-shirts that sold in the United States as well as Japan. This international hype allowed Cody to make her mark in Fashion Week by hosting and walking the runway for the Young Hollywood shows. She became the signature model for the high fashion lines “The Battalion” and “Chelsea Rebelle”.
After a slew of magazine covers and editorials, she became most recognized for her sarcastic wit and lovable personality on A&E’s Gene Simmons: Family Jewels. As a notable “Fan Favorite”, producers kept Cody as a recurring role to add some spice to the show as Gene Simmons’ son Nick Simmons’ girlfriend. In 2008, Nylon Magazine deemed her “IT GIRL” alongside Zooey Deschanel in their October issue as the most promising upcoming actresses.
While attending an intensive sitcom acting program at UCLA, iconic writer/producer Chuck Lorre told her that she was naturally funny and had a bright future in comedy. Conchata Ferrell called her a “comedy rock star” and even wrote her college recommendation letter for USC, where she recently graduated with a B.A. in Communication & Media Studies.
She worked with Anchorman's David Koachner and David Hasselhoff in John Gulager's Piranha 3DD, where she parodies herself as a feisty lifeguard. Not to mention Cody captivated audiences with her dynamic dramatic roles in the award winning short films like Parallel Misdirection (2012), Fully Integrated (2012), Consumed (2014), The Proposition (2014), Murder Bullet (2014), and Out of Focus (2014). Proving she is not a one trick pony, her versatile skills were highlighted when she starred in the indie feature films Stuck (2012) and The Bridge Between (2012).
On the television and film front, Cody gained a strong tween following when she guest starred on Disney Channel's The Suite Life on Deck, playing the coveted role of blonde bombshell, Junior Chess Champion of Russia, Sasha Matryoshka. She also had memorable roles in shows such as ABC’s Super Fun Night, and appearing on mini-series like Madden Girl and This is Fashion. Director Jared Micah Herman offered Cody the recurring role of “Trish”, Billy Bush’s sassy, yet highly skilled assistant in the SHOWTIME pilot Washed Up, starring Jason Trawick. In MEMORIA (2014), Cody co-stars alongside James Franco and Thomas Mann in an edgy coming of age story. In her grittiest role yet, she portrays Natasha Illichev, the dark object of the desire.
This year Cody landed the recurring role of Rio in VIMEO's television mini-series, Beautiful Fools. Make sure to catch her in co-star roles in TNTS Rizzoli & Isles, and Jason Reitman's comedy pilot, Casual airing later this year.
Industry professionals have compared Cody to a young Scarlett Johansson. With her innate talent and captivating presence, Cody has a very promising career ahead of her.
